50,000

Sometime while I was asleep last night I reached the landmark figure of 50,000 clicks on my humble little blog. I am chuffed. Now, I know other blogs get thousands of clicks per day (some per hour) but mine doesn't have world shattering news, exclusive photos orinterviews and I certainly do not lead a glamourous lifestyle, so with as little as I put into this blog I am very happy to have 50,000 people check it out. I was wondering how to celebrate this figure, or how to mark it on the blog, but I can't think, so I shall have to just "settle" for this:

Force of Nature

I was watching a short clip of the Big Brother [US] housemates experiencing the latest earthquake to hit Los Angeles this evening, kindly brought to my attention by Dudetube, and it was fairly interesting to the actual tremor and an instant reaction by people. Right at the end of the clip I caught sight of an incredibly muscular man and had to know more.

After looking it up on my faithful [usually] Wikpedia I find out that he is a minor celebrity, being a professional model and bodybuilder named Jessie Godderz. Jessie is American [duh] and a mere 22 years young, but is hot as hell. Check him out...

Sagi Kalev

Also celebrating his birthday today is Israeli born, US-resident Sagi Kalev who is a gorgeous fitness model and bodybuilder. Sagi is anything but (saggy that is!), and has a great body and fantastic smile. Happy 37th Birthday Sagi.

Birthdays

Today's LGBT birthdays:
Scott Baldwin - US porn star - 40
Cameron Cruise - US porn star - 42
Paula Martinac - US writer - 54
Salvador Novo - Mexican author, poet, playwright and presenter - Born 1904, Died 1974

Better Day

Still not feeling 100%, bit of a dodgy stomach still, but still glad that the sickness has gone. Work went quite quickly today too, probably helped that I actually did get away an hour early as promised [a bit more than an hour if I'm honest!].
I have a lay in tomorrow morning and a night shift followed by 4 days off during which, on Saturday, I should be going to Brighton Pride party in the park, IF anyone else wants to go. No one ever seems to decide until the very last minute. I shall have to go an pester people to get a deffinate answer, because if they are not going then I may just go out Friday night instead!

Feeling Better

I was feeling much better today, I think the slight cooling off during the night when we had a strong rain storm helped. I actually had a good night's sleep. Today we also had a few visitors at work, so it passed the time a bit better than normal. I was still glad to get home though and I have been promised that I can leave an hour early tomorrow, which is good. I'm not holding my breath for that though as I always seem to get overlooked for these "bonuses!"

How To Celebrate?

I have realised that very soon I will reach the 50,000 mark for hits on this blog, quite a milestone (for me anyway), so I was wondering how I should mark the occassion. I guess that I know what the answer would be if I ask you my dear readers, lots of pictures of hunky men, that is what tops most of the polls that I have done here, but I would like to do something different to mark the occassion. If you have any unique ideas then please let me know by leaving a comment or by emailing me at alex.robins@hotmail.co.uk
Oh, and Ray, I still don't have a camera so I can't do any photos of me yet!

A Bit Better

This morning I was feeling really tired and sorry for myself and was kicking myself for not calling in sick earlier. It was really too late to call in sick by this time and so I went into work. I was still feeling feverish (I had to sit in front of the fan for the first half an hour), and aching all over, and I was also tired from not sleeping for more than 20 minutes at a time since Saturday afternoon.
My stomach was pretty much alright until I moved. Unfortunately at 11:30 I had to do a patrol of the whole building. We are given an hour to do this, but it normally takes about 45 minutes. It took me an hour and 10 minutes because I had to stop three times to go to the toilet!! I also went just before my patrol and just after. I had very little to eat, just some plain stuff to tide me over, like crisps and cheesy biscuits. But the late afternoon I was beginning to feel better, but was still glad to come home.
Some good news on the work front is that one of the floors is about to be fitted out for some people to come and work there. So there will actually be something for us to do! The fit-out begins in 2 weeks, and who knows, there may be some nice hunky contracters to seduce?

Fighters

Also today we have two American hunks celebrating their birthdays, and both are used to fighting for what they want.
Firstly we have wrestler Triple H, real name Paul Michael Levesque, who is celebrating his 39th birthday today. Triple H has always been one of my favourite wrestlers (and I have a few), but it is surprising because I never used to be attracted to any guys with facial hair! Now, I think he looks better with his beard and 'tache, but I wouldn't say "No" wither way!
Secondly we have a Calvin Klein model, turned actor Sasha Mitchell, who took over the role of the star in the Kickboxer films after Jean-Claude van Damme. I remember him from Dallas though where he played the illigitimate son of JR. He's had some roles lately in popular television shows like JAG and ER, but not starred in anything for a while. I would certainly like to see more of him, although conversation might be an issue as he always sounded a bit dumb when he talked!

Birthdays

Once again, not many LGBT birthdays today:
Sir Anton Dolin - UK ballet dancer - Born 1904, Died 1983
Bryan Fuller - US screenwriter and producer - 39
Troy Perry - US reverend - 68

Pity Me!

I am on my last day of four days off and where I was planning to go into town and treat myself to comics today I can barely bring myself to get out of bed. I think I have food poisoning. I had some turkey yesterday and when I'd finished it I thought something was wrong but I hoped that it was just that I'd eaten too much. No such luck. From midnight last night until about 10:00 this morning I have been going to the toilet about every 20 minutes. I hate to be indelicate but if it's not one end it's the other!!
I have a temperature too and ache all over and I've been trying to sweat it out, like I do with colds. Despite being really warm around the face, neck and shoulders at times I was actually cold over the rest of my body, so I have been trying to reach a happy medium of hot and cold. I am currently sat here, after dragging myself out of bed, with a thick full tracksuit on, but I also have the window open and the fan going.
Of course I am being a total man about this, which basically means I am feeling sorry for myself and wondering why no one is producing an endless supply of cold drinks for me and dabbing my forehead with a damp flannel! Part of the reason could be because you, dear blog-reader, are the first person I've told about my imminent "death!"
I do wish I knew of someone who could come around and pander to my every requirement, but that would just encourage me! The fact is that while I have been typing the above, my fever has just broke, so I think I am nearing the end of my suffering! I was, strangely hoping, that it would continue into the night so I would have an excuse not to go to work in the morning. I guess I could still fake it, or I may indeed have a relapse! But, as much as I don't want to go to work, I can't afford to take time off as we do not get sick pay, so I think my decision will be made for me. We shall see how I feel when I go to bed tonight.
Pity me! I'm a man and I'm not well!

The Covenant

I have just finished watching a DVD lent to me by a work colleague, The Covenant. I have seen lots of talk about this film in the blogosphere, mainly due to the hot quintet of male stars, and I always intended to watch it at some point. I am so glad that I did.
Although it does feel a bit like the same old story at the beginning, with a group of friends all decended from an ancient secret "society," there are a few interesting twists.
Riding on the shirt-tails of hits of the last decade-plus, like Buffy, Angel and Charmed, the Covenant explored the teen world of male witches and what it is to have power, knowing that using that power will eventually leave you withered and old. An analogy to drugs, with the addictive aspect of The Power, especially when explored by teens.
The film has superb special effects throughout, mainly stemming from the boys using their powers, the most stunning sequence is when the main character is distracted while driving and plows headlong into a logging truck. In a Matrix-like, slow motion scene you see his car explode into its component pieces and then reform perfectly behind the truck as if nothing had happened.
The main reason for watching the film though has to be the guys. Steven Strait, unfortunate surname and yes, he apparently is, plays the main character of Caleb. He is the star of the school swimming team, which means that we get to see him in speedos. WOW. Showing off his great chest, and arms and superb lop-sided smile he has a god-like body. WOW (sorry I had to say it again!). And he was a model and can sing too apparently, is there no end to his talents?
His best friend, Pogue, played by Taylor Kitsch is also a bit of a hottie, who also has a great body, though not as good as Steven's. Taylor, who is also a model, is going to be playing Gambit the "Ragin' Cajin" in the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine film, and he looks the part.
With one, all too brief group shower scene, and even a boy-on-boy ["brotherly"] kiss, the boys in this film got me all excited and I think, just to appreciate the film fully, I may have to purchase my own copy of the DVD to watch it allover again.
Despite being slated by many reviewers, I think that, even without the sexy cast, this is a good film, well worth watching if you are interested in this genre.
