In Memorium

Today would also have been the 36th birthday of Pedro Zamora. Pedro came to prominance when he was one of the housemates in MTV's Real World: San Francisco, which I remember watching all those years ago. Pedro was openly gay and had AIDS, and sadly died mere hours after the final episode of Real World was aired in the USA.
Pedro has been rightly credited with bringing a human face to AIDS and, even prior to Real World, became an AIDS educator which led him to audition for the show to enable him to bring the truth about AIDS to a wider audience. It was certainly the first time that I had seen anyone going through the experience of dealing with AIDS. He was a real example to us all.
