Meat

Tonight's episode of Torchwood was not up to the usual high standard, I'm sorry to say.
Involving Gwen mainly this episode and her relationship with Rhys, they resorted to This Life camera shots whizzing from left to right and, at one point, totally overshooting the actor to the space behind where he was standing.
On top of this the effects for the alien entity were poor. Initially, the whale-like alien looked good, as we were only seeing parts of it, but when it began to convulse and lash about it just looked like a large hand puppet and the effects looked like something Ray Harryhausen might have done back in the 70's or before.
On top of that Tosh seemed to have completely forgotten her love affair with the World War I soldier-boy lost in time, Tommy, in the last episode and was lusting after Owen, who sorry to say reminds me of Moe from the Simpsons at times. Sorry Burn!

There were some good lines in this episode though:
The giant alien was being carved up for its meat and kept regenerating and increasing in size, so Tosh suggested, "We could feed the world!"
To which Ianto imediately replied, "We could release a single!"

When Cap'n Jack visited Rhys's office he was told, by Rhy's secretary that they had vacancies.
"Wouldn't I need a licence?" He asked her politely.
"Yes, but it only takes 4 weeks and then you can go long distance!" Jack then whispered in her ear, "That wouldn't be a problem!"

And what was most shocking about this episode? Unless I am very much mistaken, there was absoultely no gay kisses! It has to be a first for Torchwood.
