I arrived at work for my meeting dead on 11:00 as requested. The receptionist couldn't contact the person I was there to meet ar an alternate name I gave, so she emailed them and I waited in reception. At 11:25 I was collected by one of the supervisors who had been asked, by the gentleman I was to meet, if he had my mobile number. He replied, "Why do you want to phone him when he is downstairs in reception waiting!" Typical of security management.
They had changed the location of the meeting, and the personnel. The man I thought I was having the meeting with was there just to "sit in" while I had to face the Compliance Manager, who was very methodical and went through every piece of paper step-by-step!
They did have some documentation in evidence that I had not been made aware of which were dated 13/09/2007, so this process has been ongoing for a while and could well be a reason I did not get a bonus!
The Compliance Manager tried to imply that, by giving examples on our website of work that we (Bob and I in Worldsafe), had taken part in for our security company in contract to the bank, that we had breached confidentiality. The fact was that we, at no time, mentioned the security company we work for, or the bank to which we are contracted anywhere in the website. We also purposefully made the examples as generic as possible to avoid breaching confidentiality. Obviously we didn't do a good enough job!
My only recourse was to please ignorance and naivety and hope for the best.
The meeting lasted approximately an hour and I now have to wait for a letter by post, an email and / or a letter by courier (they are covering all bases because of the postal strike), to find out the result, which should be tomorrow.
On a positive not I have heard back from one of my job applications, a security company. I have an interview on the 1st November, unless I get the sack tomorrow, which will mean that I will be able to atend one this Thursday. It pays the same as I am getting at the moment, and that is a starting wage and it is in London, about 1/2 hour travelling by bus / tube! Fantastic. The woman I spoke to sounds really nice too, but that is no indication as she is a recruiter and almost certainly not on site. So it's not all bad!
