Disgusted

I have just caught the front page story on today's Metro paper.
A bar called Phatz in Maidenhead, Berkshire, England barred a group of UK troops because they were wearing their uniforms. The group of 12 had gone to the bar following the funeral of Rifleman Daniel Hume, aged just 22.
Some of the group were admitted but were told "You can all come in, apart from the squaddies". Is that any way to treat out heroes?
I am a big supporter of our fighting forces, not because of the particular battles they fight, but because they are the ones willing to do so to protect out lives and our freedoms.
It is not just because my brother was in the army from age 16 to age 40.
It is not because of my fondness for men in uniforms.
It is because they are real heroes.
Tom Cruise is a religious fanatic.
Michael Jackson sang and danced.
David Beckham plays a sport.
These guys and girls (and those in the police, fire service, mountain rescue, coast guard and ambulance service and NHS etc), are the true heroes of this world and what do they get? They get turned away from a bar while mourning a friend and colleague, after being a walking target for months on end with insufficient equipment and back-up.
I call for a boycott of this bar, Phatz, and then we will see how the owners deal with the lack of customers! I hope they go bust. In these difficult financial times how can anyone turn away paying customers? But especially ones who are in mourning, who are smart and who have fought for all of us?

This is how it should be for our amazing troops:
