WARNING WARNING I SPEAK MY MIND

I have just read a story on BBC News site about warning being put on blogs. Apparently I may have to warn my readers that crude language may be contained, according to a new, suggested code of conduct being drafted by Tim O'Reilly, a web pioneer. The story doesn't seem clear to me, but it appears that they are talking about comments being left on blogs, especially threatening, anonymous ones.
The way I see it, it is just an alternate form of SPAM. Comments are able to be deleted, so, if you don't like the comment delete it! If it is threatening or offensive report it to the appropriate authorities and let them deal with it. These comment can be traced can't they?

Blogs are, in my opinion areas of free speech for the blogger. It is the blogger's space, to write and post what they desire. If you do not like what is on the blog, don't read it. If the content of the blog breaks the law then, again, report it to the appropriate authority.

On THIS blog I try not to include pornographic images, though I see nothing wrong in pornography, I just do not need it on my site. I have posted pictures of naked men, but nothing pornographic, and for one of these images I receive an anonymous comment from a woman saying I was dirty or evil or something. I read it, didn't like it, so I deleted it and thought nothing more of it.

My only complaint is that I don't get enough comments.
I don't mind anonymous comments, that is fine. If you have something nasty to say though, have the bollocks to give your name so I can reply to you in person. If you don't have the nerve to put your own name, then keep your ill-informed comments to yourself you twats!! (Sorry, should I have put a warning before those comments?)

I hope I haven't infringed anyone's copyright, libelled anyone, or violated anyone privacy. If I have I apologise. With copyright, if I have reproduced something, it has been taken from another site which has been easy to copy. If you are precious about your pictures, protect them (I'm no techie, but there is software about to enable you to do this), but mostly me reproducing images just provides free publicity, so no one should mind.

Celebrities are covered extensively in the media on their "OFF" time, I try not to reproduce these images if I realise that is what they are.

I feel that this is pretty fair. If someone has a problem with my blog I invite them to let me know and I will read their comments and reply. They may not change my oppinion, but then again they may bring up a point I haven't considered before, so it is worth your time and mine to do this. I am always willing to be educated.

I hope that the blogosphere remains a "free speech space" as I enjoy blogging and reading the blogs of others. The majority of posts I read are positive comments and images, or fun videos, songs etc and that is the way I hope it remains. There will always be people who aim to ruin things for others, but these are the minority and should be dealt with as such and let the majority just get on with it.

I read something about a code of conduct including ethics, and I think it is just bullshit. If I want to steal an idea or a post a picture I did not take I will. Sue me is what I say. It will give me a reason to post something else. Who's bad?

Well, I sort of agree. That is what the internet is there for!! Freedom of information.
