Now Boarding
I've obviously missed an email or something from my mate Deano in Australia. His show, Now Boarding, is still going, this time at:
The British Crown, 14-18, Smith Street, Collingwood, Melbourne
and is running from
26th March to 11th April
Apparently is is a fantastic show and well worth seeing so if you are in the area give it a go. And, if you do, let me know what you thought as I won't have the oportunity to see it myself being stuck over here in Blighty!!

Looking forward to my 2 days off
Tonight is my last night shift of this rotation and I am looking forward to doing nothing again on my two days off. I then have only five shifts before getting three days off, so that's not too bad. I hope tonight goes as quickly as last night, but then again I was helped last night by the clocks going forward!!

Boring
For those of you who actually read what I write here on Hamster's Wheel, I have to apologise for the lack of content over the last couple of weeks. I have been very lax in my writing, but to tell the truth I have had nothing much to write about. I am skint at the moment and so cannot afford to go out or do anything, I literally can just about feed myself due to the missing 3 days pay from my very short-term job that I had. I get paid next Friday so I hope to have lots of debauchery to tell you about when I eventually get my life back. So, please, bear with me.
For those of you who are sticking with me and who write comments or send emails I really appreciate the time and effort you have taken. I started this blog as a way of contacting new people and have made new friends through it, so it has achieved what I intended and I hope entertained, informed and titillated along the way as well. I look forward to "meeting" many more of you as I continue the blog and hope to get more even more feedback to I can make this a better blog for you all.
Thanks again for your support (especially Mike, Gab and Ray my biggest "fans").

Tired
I can't believe how tired I have been over the last 2 days. I wasn't this tired at the end of my nine-shift run last week. This morning and yesterday morning I really struggled to stay awake at work, though I found the afternoons a lot easier to cope with. I hope that my tiredness eases over the next few days. I am on nights from tomorrow and so I get a lay in the morning. Only four night shifts to go and then I get 2 days off again.

Torchwood Catchup
*************Possible Spoiler Warning*************
I have just caught up on Torchwood, not realising that I had missed two episodes. The first episode, "Adrift" concerned a missing person, or missing people actually, but focused on one missing person in particular. It was a touching story, with relevance to the modern "real" world in that people go missing all the time and, many times, the loved ones of the missing person never find out what happened to that person. This episode explored the conflict that exists between finding out the truth and wishing you still had the hope that they would return as they had been, safe and sound instead of finding out the truth and the possible suffering that they may have endured.
It is a story that could have been written for any series, not necessarily just a sci-fi series like Torchwood, but it was interesting to put that extra level of mystery into the equation.
I liked the story, which this time focused mainly on Gwen, but was left feeling short changed that we didn't find out anything about all of the other missing people mentioned and briefly shown.
The next episode, "Fragments" was equally as good but in a different way and more relevant to the series itself. It spotlighted not just one team member but on the histories of all of the team and how they ended up joining Torchwood, except for Gwen whose initiation we witnessed at the beginning of series one.
It was surprising to see the criminal origin of Toshiko, and a brief appearance by UNIT. Owen's back-story explained further why he is so aloof from emotions a lot of the time and is itself chillingly tragic. And Ianto's joining of the team was great, funny and showed his persistance (presumably brought on by his worry for his then Cyberwoman girlfriend who he had rescued from the remains of Torchwood London), and the beginnings of his emotional attachment to Jack. We even got to see the origin of the pterodactyl which is now at home in the Torchwood Cardiff base!
We even got to see more of the history of Jack, from his first encounter with Torchwood, to his joining the team freelance and eventually him taking over the reins. The history of Torchwood is something that I have wanted to see for a while now. And we even got to see the fortune teller who appeared in the previous episode, "Dead Man Walking"and she was still the same age even though hundreds of years had passed between the two appearances. I guess that she will be featured in a future story line.
And the reappearance of a character from earlier in the series, I won't say who, was a bit of a surprise leading into the next episode which I am now going to have to wait for.
I also caught up on my Torchwood Declassified.
Earlier today I had the television on, but wasn't watching it, and as I turned around I realised that I had missed the trailer for the upcoming series of Dr Who. I will now be watching out for that when it is shown again. I believe that the series starts again in May.

At Last
I am just about to head into work for my ninth and final shift of this set. I am looking forward to my two days off, not that I can afford to do anything but it will be nice to be off. I hope that tonight goes as quick as the rest of the shifts have. Luckily it hasn't been too bas so far.
