I was pleasantly surprised to see earlier that AVP was due to be shown on Channel 4 tonight so I made sure that I was settled in nicely to watch this, yet another, film that I had wanted to see at the cinema but had missed. I thought it would pass a couple of hours, but wasn't sure that I should expect too much.
Wow! Was I glad I took the time to watch?
I thought it was a fantastic film and am pleased to hear that the sequel, Aliens versus Predator: Requiem, is out this week in the UK. I've just watched a trailer and, although it doesn't look as good at the one I just watched on the television I still want to see it.
I enjoyed AVP itself for various reasons:
- It was a film that realised the dream of, and answered questions posed by, sci-fi fans across the planet, i.e. "What would happen if......?"
- The story held up as far as I was concerned.
- It was well acted by all involved, but especially by Sanaa Lathan, who played her character well, tough but not over-the-top tough. She wasn't trying to be Sigourney Weaver.
- And it also starred Raoul Bova, an actor who I have seen many fantastic photos of over the last few years, but who I had never seen acting. He is actually quite a good actor, but that isn't the main reason I am posting these pictures of him.
