I had a text conversation with Richard earlier tonight and found out that Tim will be well enough to leave hospital this weekend. That is great news, but I was a bit worried as I didn't think that he'd had his titanium plate put in yet. When I queried this with Richard he confirmed that he hadn't and so would have to wear a special helmet to protect his head while he is out of hospital. He then sent me a picture he had taken with Tim wearing the helmet. I was going to post it here, but I think I should wait to get Tim's permission before doing so, considering how image conscious he is!
My sense of humour is a dirty and cruel one (I had great teachers in this, some of whom I visited this past weekend!!), so I fell about laughing when I saw the picture, and a dozen comments came to mind about window-lickers etc etc. I am aware though, that this will be a very difficult step for Tim, who, like me, really doesn't even like wearing his glasses in public, let alone a big, white, plastic helmet everywhere he goes. I think we shall have to find some way of disguising it, maybe getting a woolly hat to cover it or something (not exactly ideal for "summer" but it's just an idea). I shall have to discuss this with Tim, hopefully I will be able to go and see him on Friday. I'll let you know what transpires (and if he allows it I shall share the picture at a later date).
