I am about to head off to work in about 20 minutes and I am not looking forward to it. I know I never am, but night shifts are normally totally stress free, even if they do mess up my sleeping patterns.
I normally just switch on my laptop and get on with some writing or updating my databases. But, unfortunately this is not allowed by my bosses. On nights they do not know about it, or didn't until now. Now they have installed a camera in the control room to spy on security 24/7. All this means is that, we will now be taking our breaks in the rest room, as opposed to staying in the control room all the shift when we aren't on patrol. Now, they will have less cover in the control room and, as the guards will be on their own most of the time, it is more likely that they will be falling asleep. Other than reading books, there is absolutely nothing else to do in our control room, so I don't know what else they can expect. Things are getting worse and worse at work and I really need to get out of there as soon as possible.
When I get some serious time off to myself (which will not be until September now) I am going to be seriously looking for another job and sending off some written articles to potential employers. Wish me luck.
p.s. Still no news, or any communication, from Bains & Ernst or my bank concerning the refund I am due. Typical. I have asked my sister if I can borrow some money so I will be able to get to her wedding at least.
