Bridgend

This week the media were reporting the 23rd suicide in Bridgend in just 20 months. Rhys Davies, a handsome 23 year old, part-time DJ, was due to go on holiday to Benidorm within days. He was found hanged.
As with all the other victims, family and friends will now have to struggle with the loss and the "not knowing why" factor and ultimately, to some extent, survivors guilt. Many will be thinking:
"What could I have done to stop it?"
"What didn't I see?"
With so many young deaths in such a small area and in such a short space of time, it is incredible that the police are saying the deaths are not suspicious. I believe in coincidence, but some things go so far beyond the possibility of chance as to be improbable.

Most of the 23 people knew each other, or at least some of the other victims. I cannot help but think that, and my apologies go out to the families and friends for saying this, but maybe the first one, two or few were genuine suicides. The latest ones could just be a desperate bid to become part of something bigger.
I hope that I am wrong, but maybe these young adults see their suicides as their way of becoming famous, of joining a very exclusive club with a very strict and deadly entrance fee?
How many of these young people had applied for reality television shows before their deaths? How many had aspirations of fame? Have these questions been explored and answered?

As I said, I apologise for these thoughts, but I am just trying to look for a reason in these seemingly meaningless deaths. The only other explanation I can come up with is mass murder, and the police seem to have ruled that out as a cause.
I am surprised that Channel 5 have yet to make a documentary on the phenomena, as it is the sort of story that they would normally pounce upon. It is an intriguing one, and one that I would probably watch, but for the sake of copycats and wannabes, and out of respect for the friends and families, I hope that they don't do it.

My sincerest condolences go out to the families and friends of all of the victims. I can only imagine what you are feeling, but I like you and thousands of others just want to understand why, and I want to know that Rhys will be the last one.

The victims didn't all know every other victim, but each knew at least one and in most cases more than one. It is a very odd series of events which need intense scrutiny to try and prevent even more tragedy.
