Bob, from work, has asked me to go into work tonight to be his witness at a grievance meeting with our mutual employers. I am not meant to be working today, and I want to go out tonight as Tim and Richard are out tonight (I bumped into Tim earlier, on my way back from getting my comics). I don't know if I will be any use to Bob, but no one else is available for him.
I was out last night and I really don't feel like drinking again tonight, but I haven't seen Tim for a couple of weeks and I want to be there for Tim at the moment, for reasons I won't go into here.
