Don't Forget
Tomorrow is the first day of my new blog HAMSTER'S HEATH. So there will be twice as much me to go around. Those of you who want to avoid all that gay information crap stuff that I write about can do by not going to the new site. This site, Hamster's Wheel, will be all about me (oh and I'll still be posting those semi-naked men pics that most of you like so much!!).
Birthdays
Today we only have the one LGBT birthday (that I am aware of).

Christmas Dr Who
SPOILER WARNING
I finally caught up with the full Christmas Dr Who episode and was a but underwhelmed. After seeing the full trailer weeks ago I was almost certain that David Morrisey would not be a future incarnation of the Doctor, but an impersonator of some sort and I was proved correct. He was just too insistant on identifying himself:
"I'm the Doctor. Simply the Doctor. The one, the only and the best!" The real Doctor would never identify himself so freely and be so boastful, would he?
As soon as the infostamp was mentioned then I realised what had happened, especially as the body of the supposedly deceased Jackson Lake had never been found. It had to be him, with his mind altered by the infostamp somehow.
It was a realy nice touch to view all the (known) faces of the Doctor in the images from the infostamp, they even pictured Paul McGann, which they should!
But, even after the "truth" was revealed about Jackson Lake, I still feel that there is scope for the Doctor to become him at some point in the future. It could be that this is a double bluff, to get all the speculation about the real "next" Doctor away from Neil Morrisey. If you noticed, Jackson Lake's "son" never actually acknowledged his "father," he might not have recognised him (being in shock), or it could be that he doesn't know him and that Lake IS really the Doctor from some future point in time and couldn't let the "present" Doctor know it for some reason. And, right at the end, it could have been a little clue when the "present" Doctor said to Lake;
"If anyone had to be the Doctor, I'm glad it was you." If that is not affirmation of a fellow Doctor then I don't know what is! Have I made any sense? Probably not. I'll have to talk it through with Tim tonight while we are having drinkies.
Overall I did think that the whole story line was very formulaic:
Human sells out her own race to aliens and gets conned by them, Doctor makes her realise the error of her ways just before she "dies." Companion, Rosita, saves the Doctor a couple of times (in small ways). One local (usually a young man and a bit handsome, i.e. Jed) helps the Doctor defeat the baddies. Etc etc.
I wasn't keen on the "giant robot" Cyber King or the Cyber-Puli beasts either. Many of the effects looked like effects (the robot, the Doctor swinging on a rope etc), and I hope, now that I have said that, that Tim didn't work on them! Oops if he did!
Dirvla Kirwan was one redeaming feature in the episode, playing Miss Hartigan, and I hope that she returns at some point, maybe from a time before she became involved in the story.
Hopefully the next episode, "Planet of the Dead" will redeam the "series" of specials that is replacing a normal series this coming year. We shall have to wait and see, at least until Easter when I believe the next special is to be shown.

Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special
I am finally getting caught up on my Christmas viewing and have just finished watching the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special that I missed on Saturday because I was working. It was a pretty average show really with a few great dances. With only a Christmas trophy to battle for and one show and one dance each to highlight their talents, I feel that it is a bit of a waste of time.
This year we had the three final couples from this years show, Tom & Camilla, Rachel & Vincent & Lisa & Brendan. To join them we had former champions Jill Halfpenny & Darren Bennett, and Alesha Dixon & Matthew Cutler. And finally we were joined by Kelly Brooks & Brian Fortuna (as Brendan, her former dance partner, was already busy with Lisa!).
Alesha & Mattew dances a beautiful Viennese Waltz and she looked like she had never been away from dancing. Lisa & Brendan dances a really fun quickstep. Jill & Darren performed an American Smooth which was a bit of a mix & match of dance styles. Rachel & Vincent performed a rumba really well, but we'd seen it all before. Kelly & Brian did a jive and showed me that I'd forgotten just how good Kelly was and just how much of a shame it was that she had to pull out of the show when she was taking part before. Whereas Tom & Camilla's foxtrot was just pure unadulterated fun, the best type of dance for Tom and, even though there were more mistakes in his dance (that I spotted anyway) I enjoyed his dance the most.
The overall winners were Jill & Darren, which was great as Darren had gone out of the competition relatively early this year.
Next on my list to catch up on: Dr Who - "The Next Doctor" which I only got to see half of on Christmas Day due to me having to work nights!

No Time For Me
Last night was a 13 hour shift, so I finished at 08:00 this morning. I wasn't feeling particularly tired when I got home but still managed to get straight to sleep. I didn't wake up for another 8 hours and was still tired so stayed in bed dozing away until 17:30. Now I only have 2 hours before I have to head off to work again! Thankfully it is the last of my 7 night shifts, and, if my manager has any decency he will turn up an hour early tomorrow morning to let me go as a thank you for swapping my shifts. As he doesn't have a shred of decency and hardly ever gets to work on time anyway, I don't think I will hold my breath for that particular Christmas miracle.
The first thing I did upon finally rising from my bed this afternoon was go for a shower. I jumped in and then jumped straight back out again as there was no hot water! How can there be no hot water at 17:30!! Who would have used it all this late in the afternoon. Another reason to want to get my own place again. So I am currently waiting for the water to heat up again before I can have a shower and feel at least slightly awake.

Target Reached
I think I mentioned before that I was compiling a database of "famous" LGBT people (which is where I get the names from for the list of LGBT birthdays everyday). Well, I set myself a target to get to 4000 names by the end of the year and today I have reached that target. I have been doing research at work while I've been on nights. I still have about 20 pages of research to go through so I maybe well on my way towards 5000 names (well not quite, but with all the night shifts I am doing maybe I am!). All this goes towards the information that I need for my upcoming blog, Hamster's Heath (launching on 1st January 2009, check it out)
