It is a beautiful day today and I woke up at around 08:00, slumbered and then rose about an hour later. After a few hours of pottering around I decided to get out and spend some of the money I have this month (a very rare occasion for me to have "spare" money!).
So, you can probably understand that I was incredibly disappointed that upon leaving the tube station at Tottenham Court Road, the first shop I wanted to go in was closed. After seeing a couple of other stores also closed as I walked along Oxford Street, I eventually figured out that it was because today is Sunday and this country, like many others, is a slave to a redundant religious system that forces everyone, even non-believers, to comply with their wishes and does not allow shops over a certain size to trade for more than a certain amount of hours on this "holiest of days." What a load of toss! It really pisses me off that my life is subject to the conditions of myth-believers, in this day and age. I have no problem if someone wants to believe whatever they want. But, when those beliefs affect me then I start getting annoyed. Anyway, that's the end of my rant. For now!
I didn't have to wait around for all the stores I wanted to start opening and serving (some open for an hour, for browsing, before they are allowed to serve anyone. Again, it's ridiculous!). I got a nice pair of jeans, some underwear and trainer socks in Next, but could not find a single top that I liked.
I also got a bunch of essential stuff in Superdrug, though I have just noticed that some of the stuff that I purchased was not charged to me at the offer price it was advertised under in the shop. I can't be bothered to go all the way back to the store now though and I saved about £9 anyway on what I did buy, and everything I got was on my list, so its not as if I bought something I wasn't intending to get, I just got more than I intended!
I popped into Forbidden Planet and managed to resist buying anything, which is good for me.
