I was back at work today, after having 12 days off and I wasn't looking forward to it. From the start my guts seemed to have, what I can only describe as an allergic reaction to either the building I work in, my co-workers or the job itself, and I was suffering for the first few hours.
I did manage to keep myself busy for almost three hours this morning though, which is about 2 hours more than I can normally manage!
Eventually, however, I had to resort to watching a variety of programs on BBC iPlayer, over the next three days I won't have that luxury as, being weekdays, I won't be allowed with my manager in the same room the majority of the time!
I also was disappointed not to be able to see the flock of firemen (does anyone know the correct collective noun for firemen?) who were gathered at a neighbouring building for a training session. When I did get 5 minutes to myself I looked out of one of the windows on the highest floor and counted 10 fire engines parked around that building. The only glimpse that I got of actual firemen though was in the cabs as they were driving away at the end of the training session! Not fair!
I really do not like my job, as many of you regulars will no doubt have gathered, but I am trying to think positively at the moment and so am focusing on the fact that I have more than half of March off (due to the fact that my employers messed up my holiday entitlement and gave me 4 more days than I am actually entitled to. Makes a change for them to f*ck up in my favour, which is why I have said nothing this time!). So, after my next 3 days at work, I have 4 off, 2 night shifts, 6 off, 4 day shifts and then 12 off again.
Bring. It. On.
Let's hope that I do something productive this time, other than just the going to the gym (which was the only positive thing that I did manage on my last 12 days off!).
