Fire

We had a slight bit of excitement just now. I had noticed the smell of burning while sat in my room this evening and though to begin with that it was my electric fan heater. It wasn't so I ignored it and it seemed to go away. About 15 minutes later I went to my window, I'm not sure why, and saw that the neon sign for the restaurant opposite was on fire. The flames were quite wild so I though I'd best phone the fire brigade just in case no one else had.
I was worried that the flames would catch the flat above (which is where my flatmate Jesse's ex boyfriend still lives), and pieces were falling from the sign almost setting light to the restaurant's awning too.
The restaurant owner soon noticed and was attempting to put it out with a water fire extinguisher, probably not the best idea, but the only type that would have reached the flames. Somehow, between him and the rain (which was fairly heavy) the flames went out before the 2 fire engines arrived, even though they were on scene within about 3 minutes (I was very impressed).
Unfortunately it was dark and raining (as I said) so I couldn't see properly and nor could I comfortably hang out of my window to ogle the firemen, though I did notice that one of them was nice looking, though a little young for my tastes!
