29th February

I know that there is no 29th February this year, but I could hardly leave these people out:

LGBT people born on 29th February:

1948 – Willi Smith – US Fashion Designer – Died 17th April 1987

1956 – Aileen Wuornos – US Serial Killer – Died 9th October 2002

1972 – Pedro Zamora – Cuban / US Reality TV [Real World: San Francisco] / Activist – Died 11th November 1994

1996 – Sinclair Ross – Canadian Author / Banker – Born 22nd January 1908

Date

I have just arranged my date with Jacques. We are returning to the scene of the crime. He suggested meeting in Rupert Street at 19:00 on Wednesday. I am not used to dates, but hopefully I won't fuck up whatever is meant to happen between the two of us!

Feeling Horny

What with meeting Jacques last night, and not having sex, then going to the gym this afternoon, and not having sex again, and the basic fact that I have not even had "solo" sex for over a week now, I am feeling incredibly horny. I think I am going to have to go and search for some decent porn to help with my sorrowful situation!

What Is Wrong With Me?

As I mentioned in my drunken posting late last night, I met a guy named Jacques (or Jack as he first introduced himself) while I was out after watching the England Six Nations match. He is not exactly the type of guy that I have been looking for, as I was hoping to snag a guy my age, or older, with a larger build than me, and someone who looks like he could take care of me. Instead I have met someone who is 10 years younger, slightly shorter and of a slightly smaller build than me (though more toned, probably something to do with the fact that he trains with the Kings Cross Steelers), and looking like he needs someone to take care of him.
Am I looking for an escape route already, when we haven't even had a proper first date yet? Probably, but that is how my f**cked up mind works. If I never get close to someone then they cannot hurt me. What my brain doesn't factor into the equation is that, if I never meet anyone then I am still going to be hurt!
I am going to confirm when and where we are to meet on Wednesday and take the meeting as it happens. If I cannot accept someone so young as a potential boyfriend, then hopefully I will have met someone to be friends with, as I have a serious lack of friends that I am able to spend time with.
Before I started chatting with Jacques yesterday I was thinking of taking the embarrassingly desperate act of contacting all of my gay friends and asking them to please introduce me to some of their gay friends, in the hope that I may hit it off with one (or more of them), as a friend or something more. Most of the people I know in London are through Tim, and I am grateful to him, but I do not feel the same connection of friendship with any of them (except Richard) that I do with him.
Let's just see where Wednesday takes me and let's hope that I don't throw something potentially great away before I give it a shot!

Bad Night, Good Night

I went to Comptons to watch the England match and was disappointed at the result, though it was a good contest. England lost 16-20! There seemed to be more Ireland supporters in the bar than England supporters which wasn't good either!
I did see the straight rugby fan that I had talked to last year, but he didn't seem to recognise me so I never got to talk to him at all.
After the match I went on to Rupert Street where there were a few good looking guys, though none were interested in me (or if they were they were hedging their bets with other possibilities).
I was just considering leaving when a handsome South African lad named Jacques started talking to me. It soon became apparent that we were both attracted to each other and we chatted for a while before eventually having a little kiss. That little kiss turned into a big snog later and several big snogs followed.
Because I had been drinking since 16:00 I felt inebriated and didn't want our first proper "encounter" to be a drunken one, so I took his number and made my way home. I was tempted to go on to Chariots, as I was then feeling so horny, but I was far too drunk and came straight home.
Off to bed now, but have arranged to meet Jacques on Wednesday. By the way he is 10 years younger than me. Should I be concerned? Is Tim going to be offended that I have managed to "pull" someone 10 years younger without lying about my age? Tee Hee!

Better & Better

Had a quick session at the gym today, despite my cold being on the way out, as I wanted to be out in time to get to Soho later. I managed to beat my 1km time again, this time managing 4 minutes 46 seconds, which was excellent considering I felt like giving up after 2 minutes as my calf was cramping a bit.
In the steam room & sauna there were 2 gorgeous guys, but they only had "eyes" for each other. Shame.
Getting ready to head into town for the England Six Nations match against Ireland in Comptons. I hope it is a good one and, even more so, I hope that there are some friendly faces there.

Feeling Better?

I woke up this morning and felt worse than I did yesterday, but then again I think it may just be a "first-thing-in-the-morning" thing. My throat was choked with a whole night-ful of phlegm and coughing it up made my already sore throat feel very tender, and my headache ten-times worse. After taking some paracetamol, having breakfast and plenty of fluid I began to feel better, but still had no intention of going to the gym today, as I was still feeling bad.
I had a beautiful bacon, cheese and mushroom sandwich for lunch and after that I felt a whole lot better. I decided to go to the gym after all.
I was surprised, given that I still couldn't breathe very well through my nose, that while on my first run of my usual rotation, I managed to get my best time. I normally run 1km just after doing my initial stretches and have only managed to do this in under 5 minutes on one previous occasion, and that time it was only by 1 second. Today I managed to complete it in 4 minutes 55 seconds, and that was with a 15 second delay in getting the treadmill up to full speed. I was shocked by very happy. My aim with my running is to get under 5 minutes for a mile, which is approximately 1.62km. Given that I can't even run that far at the moment, my target is a long way off, but I hope to get to it within a year, preferably by Christmas.
I barely managed a few minutes in the steam room and sauna again today, because of my difficulty in breathing.
For the rest of today I have done nothing else except watch the dramatic, but mistake-prone Wales v France Six Nations match. Very exciting.

Tomorrow I will go to the gym earlier than normal. Being a weekend it will not be packed so the time doesn't matter. I then aim to have a late lunch before heading into town to watch the England match in Comptons again at 16:00. I am not sure how long after the match has finished that I will stay out, I'll just see how things develop. I doubt that I will be aiming to get off with anyone, as I doubt that my blocked nose will have cleared by then, and it is not exactly a pulling point!

And Another Pink Medal!

My congratulations go out once again to another LGBT athlete at the Winter Olympics for winning a medal, this time going to Sarah Vaillecourt who is a member of Canada's women's Ice Hockey squad who scored gold yesterday. Well done Sarah and team.

More Pink Medals

I am happy, once again, to report that once more one of our LGBT athletes at the Winter Olympics has won a gold medal, Vibeke Skortferud, as part of the Norwegian Women's 4 x 5 kilometre cross-country skiing relay. Congratulations to Vibeke and her teammates.

On a linked note, I have unearthed another gay athlete competing in the Winter Olympics (well thanks to Outsports actually). Sanne van Kerkhof is a Dutch short-track speed skater (who is apparently also the partner of Ireen Wust). Oh, and Johnny Weir is definitely gay (allegedly).

Drinks Are Off

I managed to do a short session at the gym, missing out one cardio set and 3 weight machine sets, but otherwise I was okay. I went to the steam room and sauna afterwards, but found it difficult to breath so I didn't feel like doing anything, even if there had been anyone decent in there to do something with. As I got changed I saw a couple of gorgeous guys head to the showers, but was already changed so I couldn't do anything even if I had felt like it.
I have decided that I can't face going out tonight, even though I was looking forward to cruising the bars.

It is times like today, when I am feeling not quite 100%, that I really hate not having a boyfriend. I really want to just laze on the sofa in his arms, watching tv or a movie, with him periodically getting up to make me a hot drink or a snack or something. I can dream can't I?

A Good Day...

...and it is only 13:45!
Despite feeling like I have a heavy cold coming on (it has been threatening for the last 4 days), I managed to drag myself out of bed at about 10:00 to get to my Optimax appointment for 11:30. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they were happy with my eyes' progress and signed me off, meaning that I won't have to go back every 8 weeks for check ups. The next time I should go to the opticians will be in 2 years time! Excellent.
I popped into Superdrug on the way home and got some bargains (including using a 10% off voucher). Then also got some bargains in W.H.Smith (including a £30 book reduced to £9.99 which came up as £6 at the till).
Let's hope that my luck continues.
I'm going to try the gym today, despite not being able to breathe through my nose, and see how I go. I think that I will give Soho a miss tonight to give me a chance to recover properly, though I could still change my mind on this, especially if I find out that someone else is out. We shall see.

Plans

I never plan much for my days off, mainly because I don't have anyone to plan them with, but for my next 4 days off I am doing the following:
Tomorrow I have an appointment with Optimax at 11:30 which won't take long. I will then come back here for some lunch and then head off to the gym at about 14:30, I've had 5 days off from there and I feel guilty. I am probably going to go out tomorrow night too. Hopefully it will be fun, but not as packed as last Friday was.
Depending on how hungover I am, I hope to be able to get to the gym on Friday too, in between watching the 2 Six Nations matches that are playing (why they are doing 2 matches on a Friday I am at a loss to explain).
I will try also to get to the gym on Saturday late morning, or early afternoon, and then head into town for the England Six Nations match at Comptons (hoping that there will be a better atmosphere than the other Sunday). I am not sure how long I will stay out after the match has finished, so I don't know how hungover I will be on Sunday. Hopefully, again, I will be well enough to make it to the gym again.
Monday I am back to work on nights, but only for 2 shifts before being off for six more days. I just hope that I get to spend some of this time with company of some kind.

Knew It Was A Fluke

I had a hunch yesterday was a fluke, that me not hating work was unusual, and today it was proved. Once again I was bored out of my brain all day long, wishing something exciting would happen. The most interesting thing that did happen all day was when a girl came into reception dressed in a Sylvester the Cat suit with a running number on the front (I'm guessing that she is training for the London Marathon).
One more day!

Golden Girl

I said that I would be keeping an eye on the (very few) out gay Olympians at these Winter Games to see if they performed as well as their counterparts in the Summer Olympics 2 years ago. Well, Ireen Wust of the Netherlands has started the ball rolling with her Gold medal in the women's 1500m speed skating yesterday. Let's hope that this will spur the other girls on to do as great things in the rest of the competition (and that the boys can learn something from the girls too!).

In Shock!!!

I am in disbelief that I am going to admit to this, and that it actually happened in the first place. But I must tell the truth!
I was at work today and, ooh I can't believe that I am going to say it, here goes........
I didn't hate it!
That is about as good a day as I am going to get at that place, but until I find a decent job I will happily settle for "I didn't hate it!" any day!

First Day Back

I was back at work today, after having 12 days off and I wasn't looking forward to it. From the start my guts seemed to have, what I can only describe as an allergic reaction to either the building I work in, my co-workers or the job itself, and I was suffering for the first few hours.
I did manage to keep myself busy for almost three hours this morning though, which is about 2 hours more than I can normally manage!
Eventually, however, I had to resort to watching a variety of programs on BBC iPlayer, over the next three days I won't have that luxury as, being weekdays, I won't be allowed with my manager in the same room the majority of the time!
I also was disappointed not to be able to see the flock of firemen (does anyone know the correct collective noun for firemen?) who were gathered at a neighbouring building for a training session. When I did get 5 minutes to myself I looked out of one of the windows on the highest floor and counted 10 fire engines parked around that building. The only glimpse that I got of actual firemen though was in the cabs as they were driving away at the end of the training session! Not fair!
I really do not like my job, as many of you regulars will no doubt have gathered, but I am trying to think positively at the moment and so am focusing on the fact that I have more than half of March off (due to the fact that my employers messed up my holiday entitlement and gave me 4 more days than I am actually entitled to. Makes a change for them to f*ck up in my favour, which is why I have said nothing this time!). So, after my next 3 days at work, I have 4 off, 2 night shifts, 6 off, 4 day shifts and then 12 off again.
Bring. It. On.
Let's hope that I do something productive this time, other than just the going to the gym (which was the only positive thing that I did manage on my last 12 days off!).

Inevitable Apparently

I went out for drinks with Tim last night, starting off, as usual, in the Duke of Wellington. We were not particularly happy with how busy everywhere was, being a Friday, but there was nothing we could do about it. There were a few nice guys about, but it was far too busy to actually cruise for anyone.
We went from the Duke to the Yard, to Comptons, to Rupert Street. Tim left at around 23:00, as he had to work today, and I went on to Barcode, as usual. Tim had asked if I intended to go to Chariots later, to which I replied I had no intention of ending up there again, and had not even given it a thought until he mentioned it.
When Barcode closed I wasn't in the mood to go home, and in an effort NOT to end up at Chariots I decided to go to the 2 Brewers, so got a taxi there. When the 2 Brewers closed I still didn't want to go home and was still feeling horny. I got in a taxi and asked to go to Barbican. When I was almost home I gave in to temptation and told the driver I'd changed my mind and he took me to Chariots. I felt so week, but I really needed some human contact.
I had quite a bit of fun in there, which surprised me given how late it was (by this time it was almost 05:00!). There was one guy especially who I really liked and got on with, as I didn't have my phone (it was in my locker) or a pen, he told me his Gaydar profile name and even spelled it out for me, but do you think I can remember it now? No! I remember that it was 7 letters and starts with a "P", but other than that I have no idea! Shame, he was nice and sexy.
I eventually got home at 08:00 this morning and was shocked when I worked out that I had spent about £120 last night (including £50 on taxis, £15 for Chariots, bar entry fees and drinks!). I guess it balances out because the other week I had a whole night out for less than £30, so can't really complain. And I only have a slight hangover and am feeling like I want to go to the gym today, though I don't think my hangover would remain mild if I did (I only want to go for the steam room / sauna today anyway, I think).
I feel like a failure because I failed to resist the temptation of cock (going to Chariots), but blame Tim because he was the one who put the idea in my head in the first place!

Pissed Off With Blogger

I mentioned yesterday that I was having trouble with Blogger. Well it has continued all day today (well, yesterday now as it is gone midnight). It has just taken me 30 minutes just to get the posting screen up to make this entry! Incredibly frustrating, I just hope that they get if fixed soon!

Now back to the news rather than the reason for no news! Not that it is that exciting!

It took me ages to get to sleep last night as, for some strange reason, my heart was beating ten to the dozen, despite the fact that I wasn't doing anything. It is still doing it too, and almost stopped me going to the gym in the afternoon. But I went anyway, my fourth day in a row!
I didn't quite match my 5 minute-kilometre of the day before (just a few seconds out), but I still managed to do a good work out for a whole hour. And I only stayed in the shower / steam room / sauna for 30 minutes, which was good for me!
There were a couple of things that made me laugh while I was at the gym too. Toward the end of my hour I went back for a short run on the treadmill, as I always tend to do at the end, and I noticed that there was a guy already on one of the treadmills running very strangely. I was almost laughing out loud at him because he was swinging his left arm quite high, side-to-side and it looked like it was missing a handbag hooked over it. I'm sure a few other guys walked by him and laughed too. He looked so strange, and incredibly camp. He also gave me a big smile while I was in the showers too, but I wasn't going to go there.
The other thing that made me laugh was a Japanese-looking guy who appeared to be cruising the showers. When I went back to my locker he appeared to follow me and stood by the mirrors which were by my locker. He then proceeded to put a green, mud face mask on in the middle of the changing room. Now, don't get me wrong, I love a good mud mask, but I would never put one on in the middle of a public area. I have no idea where he went after he'd applied it (back to the steam room would be a bad idea!).

When I got home I was really feeling good about my body, again. It does seem to be firming up in the right places and my biceps and pecs are filling out and my stomach seems to be flattening slightly. I really must force myself to get some creatine [spelling?] to see if that boosts my progress any.
I was also feeling really horny and restless. I sent a text to Tim to see if he was out tonight for drinks but, when he eventually replied, he wasn't free. The fact that it was raining really hard also put me off going on my own. I will go out tomorrow night instead, whether he is free or not and whatever the weather!

Blogger Problems

Is anyone else having problems with Blogger today. Ever since I logged on this morning it is taking ages for any page to come up and any updates, or change of page, are taking about 5 minutes to load. Even when it does load the main page is often coming up without the utility bar at the top. It is very frustrating, especially as I know it is not my laptop for a change as every other site that I have been on has been fine.

Fire

We had a slight bit of excitement just now. I had noticed the smell of burning while sat in my room this evening and though to begin with that it was my electric fan heater. It wasn't so I ignored it and it seemed to go away. About 15 minutes later I went to my window, I'm not sure why, and saw that the neon sign for the restaurant opposite was on fire. The flames were quite wild so I though I'd best phone the fire brigade just in case no one else had.
I was worried that the flames would catch the flat above (which is where my flatmate Jesse's ex boyfriend still lives), and pieces were falling from the sign almost setting light to the restaurant's awning too.
The restaurant owner soon noticed and was attempting to put it out with a water fire extinguisher, probably not the best idea, but the only type that would have reached the flames. Somehow, between him and the rain (which was fairly heavy) the flames went out before the 2 fire engines arrived, even though they were on scene within about 3 minutes (I was very impressed).
Unfortunately it was dark and raining (as I said) so I couldn't see properly and nor could I comfortably hang out of my window to ogle the firemen, though I did notice that one of them was nice looking, though a little young for my tastes!
