Surprise

I got a call this morning from my boss to tell me that my employers, OCS, have indeed lost the contract for our site and will be gone by 31st July 2009. That is indeed good news as they are useless. The bad news is that the company that sacked me from the Goldman Sachs site, ISS, are taking over. So despite the fact that I will be allowed to TUPE over to them, I may not pass their vetting process, so I could end up being sacked by them all over again!
I've been searching for a new job seriously for a few months now, ever since the debacle with my pay began back in February, though my enthusiasm for the hunt has waned considerably in the last month, especially as I have not heard back from any of the 7 jobs that I did apply for.
Lets just hope that something pops up in the next 6 weeks, so I can feel a bit more financially secure. I'll just have to re-double my efforts, starting NOW!!
And, if I get a new job, hopefully with a later start time, I can then consider moving into the spare room at the flat Tim rents. The only thing putting me off moving there is that I will have to get up an hour earlier every day just to get to work in time. I also can't afford the deposit at the moment, though Tim had offered to lend this to me, which was incredibly generous of him.

The surprise news today, OCS losing the contract was expected, was that the money that went into my account yesterday was from OCS. It must have been the 2 days holiday I have been battling for. They said it would be in my next wage packet, but instead they have paid it into my account early. Another mistake by them, but this time I have no complaints. It came in at just the right time.

Another bit of good news today is that I got an email from Francis in Torquay to tell me that he is off for the weekend of Torbay Pride and so will be able to attend any and all events. He has kindly offered to put me up for the weekend, and even said I can bring a friend if I want to, which is great. Now all I have to do is find one! Well, one that wants to leave the safety and security of London that is. As I jokingly said to Fran, unfortunately the tube doesn't reach Torquay yet so I doubt I will find anyone, but I will ask. Tim has yet to reply to my suggestion of going down there. I could always ask Alfredo. Hmmmn, that's an idea.
