While I had no laptop I had no way of monitoring my blog completely. I could post blog entries from work, but was blocked from actually viewing the blog itself. Weird, huh? I didn't really want to view it from a public space, like an internet cafe or library, because when I log in Blogger goes straight to my dashboard (a sort of control page, for those who don't use Blogger), and this shows excerpts from other blogs that I follow, including pictures, some of which are fairly explicit.
Anyway, I digress as usual. When I got my new laptop up and running and finally managed to log on to view the blog I was confused by the amount of clicks on my clicker. I was certain that it should have been quite a few thousands higher, tens of thousands in fact. The other day I was proved correct when I found an old sheet of paper on which I had been recording my blog hits day by day, for curiosity's sake. The last recording I have, which would have been around when my old laptop stopped working was 89377 unique hits, today the clicker is showing 12937. So, figuring that the clicker cannot go above 5 digits (which is pretty pathetic if you ask me) that means that in the 3 months that I was out of the loop over 23000 took place, working out at approximately 7800 a month. And that was without several entries a day as I had been doing beforehand! Now, compared to other blogs that is small fry (then again most blogs do not count "unique hits" as I do, just "hits." Big difference.
Anyway, that figure impressed me and inspired me to try and make the blog a little more interesting (hey, that has always been my aim), so I hope to live up to that over the next few months, to make this blog better by making my life better and vice versa.
I think I will go and purchase a digital camera tomorrow, initially so that I can take some pictures to share with you from the upcoming Union Cup, and later in the year from London & Brighton Pride and any other event I find myself at. If I get on with taking pictures then I may have found myself a new hobby (photography is something that I have thought about before but never followed up on - sound familiar).
