So, I bit the bullet and used the last of this week's budget to buy a digital camera, the cheapest that I could find, just in case I didn't get on with it. I went to Argos and, although the catalogue there didn't have as much information as I thought I saw on line, I picked the camera I thought I'd seen.
Upon getting it home I find that it doesn't have batteries, which I thought had to be included with goods these days, and I only have 2 spare batteries of the type require, the camera requires 3. I also was not aware that you needed a memory card just to take normal shots, I always thought these were for additional memory. So now, to make use of my purchase which I couldn't really afford in the first place, I have to buy a memory card and batteries. That'll be half of next week's budget gone!!
Oh well, at least I have a camera now. I just have to rethink my budget for the weeks up until payday. Looks like it'll be home-made sandwiches at work every week!
