I have just finished watching the classic film, "Now, Voyager" which stars Bette Davis. The only reasons I began watching the film were because it was a Bette Davis film, and because I had nothing else to do.
I can't honestly say I thought it was a brilliant film, there was nothing that actually stands out as catching my attention, other than the pure evil of the mother, and how handsome Charles Drake looked in uniform as Leslie Trotter. Though it was a wonderful performance by Ms Davis (isn't it strange that it feels wrong to refer to her as Bette?). But, from the start, I was hooked. It was at least an hour before I even thought about the fact that I hadn't moved from the spot I'd made for myself on my bed. And, to compare the film to a modern counterpart, the music, most notable at the end of the film, reminds me of the music from The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi which sounds when the story centres around Leia and Han, I wonder if the romantic comparisons in the music were intended by John Williams when he wrote it?
