I am just watching the ITV program, Kenny Everett: Licence to Laugh and it is brining back great memories. I used to love watching the Kenny Everett show when I was younger, mainly because I was probably not meant to be watching (my mum was fussy about some things, she didn't like any of us watching Tiswas, let along rude, sexy stuff like Kenny's programs!). I love his characters, especially Cupid Stunt (it was only years later that I realised that the name was a pun! Yes, I was that innocent as a child!!).
While watching the show, especially the clips of him while he was at Radio One, with the beard and no moustache, I kept thinking how much he looks like David Tennant. I can see David playing him at some point in the near future in a dramatisation of Kenny's life story, which surely is overdue. David's portrayal of the Doctor is almost as manic, on occasions, as Kenny was known to have been.
I have read a bit about Kenny's life in "In the Best Possible Taste: The Crazy Life of Kenny Everett" by David Lester and would love to see his life dramatised. Kenny deserves it, so please someone write the screen play and get it made NOW!
