Never Forget Them

Today, I thought I would pay tribute to the brave people who are serving, or have served, our country as it is Armistice Day.
I am a great supporter of our Forces, and am proud of each and every one of them. Without them we would not be hear, whether is the "innocent" generation who fought in the "War to end all wars", those who fought in World War II, those who served in Northern Ireland, fought in the Falklands, Iraq, Afghanistan or numerous other locations that we do not always hear about, and those who provide invaluable support to the troops from home.
Often soldiers are vilified and subjected to verbal abuse, on top of the physical threats many of them face day to day in our service. Anyone who abuses a soldier, sailor or airman because they are doing their job should be made to see the error of their ways. If you have a criticism of where the soldiers are, do not blame them, do not target them for abuse, blame the government for sending them there, target the politicians who use our Armed Forces to promote our country's wealth in precedence over our country's freedom and identity.
I am a firm supporter of bringing back National Service. I believe that it would have done me the world of good. It would be an ideal training ground for this country's boys and girls, making them men and women with manners, a sense of self worth and a sense of belonging to a country (which sadly is loosing its identity each and every day), men and women to be proud of instead of the chavs and criminals the country seems populated by now.
On this day, ON EVERY DAY, remember our service men and women with pride and with honour. Whether they serve on land, sea or in the air, at home or abroad. Welcome those who come home safely, and honour those who died for a job they loved and chose to do. If they die in battle or not, if they served in a war or in peace time, they are the willing few protecting the many for so little reward.
