A Good Day

I actually quite enjoyed my day today at work.
[I'll give you a second while you pull yourself back up off of the floor!]
This morning was actually quite busy, with a few contractors coming in to do work of various types, guards coming in for a couple of hours for extra training, a pay query to begin an investigation on, paperwork to update, training to be given by me to other guards and other odd little bits and pieces throughout the day. I was only left with nothing to do for about 2 hours out of my 12 (as opposed to the usual 10 hours of nothing). What enhanced the day was the fact that there were no managers to prevent me from doing what I thought was best, and to keep butting in and making problems instead of solving them.
Once again a couple of the guards were telling me how I should be running the shift, and despite knowing that they were just buttering me up, and that they were not the most switched on of the guard force, it still made me feel good, they even said that they were thinking of getting a petition together to get me put forward for the managers position (if only promotions happened this way, eh?).
It was almost a shame to leave to come home. Okay, so that is just totally unbelievable, but I wish more of my days at work were as nice as today. I was actually glad to leave as I only just managed to get home for the start of Strictly Come Dancing.
