Much to my surprise, Kevin has actually got a plumber in and the hot water is now all sorted. Unfortunately, this does mean that my female flatmates, who tend to feel the cold more than anyone else, have decided to put the heating on in the flat. It may just be because I have spent the last hour rearranging and tidying my room, which has got me a bit hot and sweaty, but the living room is now too warm to spend any time in (not that I was intending to anyway!).
I am rearranging my room to try and make space for stuff that I am bringing up from the cellar. I am gradually going through all my boxes that Kevin lets me store down there, in the anticipation of the new landlord (whenever he may manifest himself) asking me to move it all out, and ultimately for when I move to a nicer place.
I have several dozen big cardboard boxes full of "crap" down there and it is a hassle bringing them up (low ceilings, 5 doors, 2 combination locks and lots of stairs), so I am doing it one or two at a time (i.e. per week). I have found some stuff that I just do not want anymore, some stuff that I wouldn't miss, and, unfortunately, loads of Star Wars figures that has just rekindled my interest in collecting them again. I have even made a couple of purchases on eBay to tide my appetite over. I don't know why I like collecting the figures so much, but I just do. If I had my own place it would make more sense as I would display some of them, but at the moment all I can do is store them in boxes which is a bit of a waste. I think, if I do decide to resume collecting these figures, I will have to decide exactly what ones I want and stick to it, I had a habit of bidding on things that I didn't really want, just to complete the collection. One website I found recently, about collecting Star Wars figures, said something along the lines of a collection being complete when YOU think it is complete, meaning that you should decide exactly what you want from your collection, and when you have all of those items, then it is complete FOR YOU. A very sensible approach. I am going to have to be careful though as this collection is what got me in debt in the first place, and I certainly do not want to go there again!
I have decided, out of all of my "junk," to try and sell my Star Trek figures, my loose superhero figures, and many of my comics on eBay, and hopefully this way I can recoup some money, or at least make some space without it costing me anything. So, if you are on the look out for any of this stuff, keep your eyes open on eBay, I sell cheap!
