Bad Start To A Good Day

Last night when I went to bed, probably around 01:00, I still felt wide awake as I was still on night shift mode I guess. It took a while to get to sleep. Therefore, this morning I found it very difficult to wake up. I was startled into jumping out of bed at around 08:30 when I thought I heard the post man ring the door bell (it was in fact my flatmate dropping something in his room), and then again at 09:30 when the post man did actually ring and delivered 2 parcels from me (indulgent eBay purchases I must admit to!).
Other than these two forays out from under the covers I was in bed, and asleep for the most part, until around 13:00 which was much later than I intended to stay in bed for, especially as I had told Tim that I would be visiting at 14:00!
I sent him a text to say I wouldn't be there until about 15:30 and then proceeded to get ready. I went to St Paul's station, as I wanted to go to Forbidden Planet first and then get some free gay mags from Compton Street afterwards for Tim. I decided to get some cash out first though.
I put my card in the machine, looked away for a second to say hello to someone I used to work with, and then went to put in my PIN number. The bloody machine was still asking for my card. I tried the cancel button (and all the other ones too), to no effect and of course the station staff couldn't do anything!
I had no cash on me and no money on my card to facilitate travelling. I had no choice but to return home, get some i.d. and then go to the bank to report the card lost and get some cash out manually. By the time I had done this about 45 minutes had passed and so I didn't have time to go anywhere before heading to Tim's.

Once I got there though I could relax. We had a good time catching up and chatted for hours. Our friend Graham turned up at 19:00 with some Chinese takeaway and so I stayed even longer than I intended. It was really nice hanging out with friends outside of a pub environment, as I haven't done that in such a long time. I was almost sad to leave, though I thought it would be nice of me to let Tim and Graham have some time as they may have had things to discuss.

In case you are wondering, Tim is doing really well, is able to walk long distances unaided by his crutch now, his double vision has cleared up and he is hoping to get back to work soon (though this is probably not going to happen thanks to the hospital not writing letters that his employer need to allow him to work!). His hair has grown too, so it isn't as obvious that he has a large dent in his head! Still, it was great to see Tim almost back to normal.
