The Gaily News

Good news:
A legislation recognising gay civil unions in the Mexican capital was published in the official gazette yesterday. Though it will not come into effect for another 120 days, it is another step in the right direction, especially after South Africa's recent decision to do the same.

Bad News:
Iran has hung another man for being gay. As other countries are moving forward regarding gay rights, others are retreating to the dark ages. Iranian state radio slammed gay marriages in 2005; Ayatollah Ebrahim Amini, an influential cleric, said in a 2002 sermon that gay and lesbian marriages reflect a weakness of Western culture; Ayatollah Ali Meshkini critisized the German Green Party for being pro-homosexual in one of his sermons in 2000.

Parents in Shiloh, Illinois have demandeded that a popular children's book about 2 male penguins who raise a baby penguin be removed from the shelves at a local school. The book, "And Tango Makes Three," is based on a true story of 2 male chinstrap penguins named Roy and Silo, who adopted an abandoned egg at New York's Central Park Zoo in the late 90's. All I can think is that the parents are objecting because this true story proves that homosexuality IS a natural thing and they cannot compete with this proof.
