The Paradox Paradox

I have just watched my second episode of the new BBC TV crime / Sci-fi drama Paradox , now that iPlayer is back up and running, and find myself still quite enjoying it. This in itself is a paradox as I am definitely not a fan of the "star" Tamsin Outhwate. I like the idea of the show, being a more down-to-Earth version of one of my favourite ever Marvel Comics series' "What If?"
"What If?" explored alternate timelines if events had gone slightly differently than in the "normal" Marvel timeline, i.e. "What If.... Spider-Man had joined the Fantastic Four?" or "What If... the X-Men had died?"
In this show a scientist receives 8 seemingly random images on his secure computer via his company's personal satellite which seem to show events in the near future. A police team is brought in to investigate the first set thinking that he (the scientist) is plotting a terrorist attack.
If they succeed in preventing the incident, whatever it may be then they have to face the question of whether they have indeed changed the future or not, something which challenges the faith of some of the characters.
The day following the first story, the scientist finds that he has received a further 8 images, one of which seems to show one of the investigating police detectives dead!
The concept may sound bizarre, especially if you are not a sci-fi buff, but is strangely compelling. I'm looking forward to the third episode. Give it a go, you may even like it too.

Oh, and I'm still liking Defying Gravity too, although I know I am ultimately going to be disappointed as the show has reportedly been cancelled already and some of the series not even shown in the US! Why do they do that? It had all the indications of being a good mix of Lost and Grey's Anatomy.
