Partners In Crime

*********Spoiler Warning********

I've just caught the first episode of the new Doctor Who series on BBC iPlayer. Partners In Crime, telling the story of how Donna (Catherine Tate) tracks down the Doctor because she has changed her mind and wants to travel with him. To be honest, I wasn't sure that I was going to like this series. I have been filled with dread ever since I heard that Tate would be joining David Tennant in the little blue box, but I was pleasantly surprised. There were only a couple of moments when I thought of her as "the Catherine Tate from her sketch show," the rest of the time she was Donna! Hopefully this will continue throughout the series and I will only think of her as Donna eventually.
The thing that she does bring to the show is comedy. She has brilliant timing and seems to work brilliantly with Tennant, again hopefully this will continue.

With Sarah Lancaster playing Miss Foster (and a comedic death at the end [think Wile Coyote in Roadrunner]), Bernard Cribbins playing Donna's grandfather brilliantly, and a surprise appearance by a ghostly Rose Tyler, this episode was great.

That was great, and the literal fall of Miss Foster! Funny!
I have been told that the comedy will not be all that Catherine Tate brings to the show! I've been told that some of the stories will bring a real tear to your eyes! So watch out!
