I've just been to see a flat this evening in London Bridge / Borough, with a view to sharing it and moving out of "The Flat From Hell." It would be sharing with Lawrence, who I met at Richard's party last night, who seems like a decent guy. The flat is a good size, though the layout wastes some space, and my room is about the same size as my current one.
Unfortunately there are several things which make me not want to take it:
Firstly, although the rent is really reasonable, it is still more than I am paying at the moment. There will be bills to pay on top of that and a large deposit, top that off with moving costs and extra travel costs, I just don't think I could afford it.
It would also mean that I would have to get up earlier in the morning to get to work, which is not a desirable thing at all.
I also really do not want to move away from the Barbican as I love this area.
I'm going to have to turn it down. Bummer!

Loondon Bridge is not THAT far from Barbican is it? Do you do The Tube? And you will be sharing it with a guy you met last night? Hmm, I would sure think that over. Will the extra costs be worth it getting oout of where you are now? Lots of things to consider. Hopefully you'll figure it out quickly so you can get into a new place soon. Me, I would be THRILLED for a dump in your city. Are you looking for a place along the same "quality" as in Barbican or can you (would you) get something a little less glamorous? Times are tough and we are all having to make sacrifices now. I had to move from a reltively nice place into a friends basement not long ago. Not happy but that is my problem, not yours. Good luck.
did you check out the Pride stuff this weekend?
I was really tempted by this flat, as I would really prefer to share with just one other person rather than 4 others (as I am at the moment).
I just can't find an extra £150 a month at the moment, plus over £700 for the deposit.
From October I will have more money as I will have finished paying for my laser eye treatment, but at the moment things are tight.
As for Pride I had a walk around, but none of my friends were about so I didn't fancy tackling the crowds all on my own for too long.
I am taking it that you are not looking into moving into "The Shard" to move to? Yeah right.Talk about having to have at least 100 roomies. And with the building codes as they are in London I am shocked (and appauled) that they ok'd that structure. It does not fit in anywhere there. Should have built it in Dubai.
Hope your throat gets better and you find a flat soon.
