Another team that are unfortunately out of the Cup already are Costa Rica. Unfortunate because they have some nice boys in their team...

Stress part 2
OK. So phoning around this afternoon trying to hire a van for moving tomorrow and everywhere affordable is fully booked (not surprisingly), the local van hire firm want a £350 deposit which I just do not have available at the moment, and on top of that the local place to whom I was going to sell my furniture aren't buying at the moment as they have no storage space left. Nightmare.
So, basically I phoned the letting agency back and said "I can't do it before Monday." There's nothing they can do about it, as I gave my notice in writing and they haven't given me any information so stuff 'em! I have agreed to let the incoming tenant store some stuff here over the weekend though, because I'm such a lovely guy. Hell, it's not her fault the letting agency f****d up is it?
Am going to relax a bit now, and get some big things done tonight (like defrosting the fridge-freezer) and then do most of it tomorrow. No wonder they say moving is one of the most stressful things you can do. There is so much to do, and so much that can go wrong.

Moving Stress!
Nothing ever goes according to plan, does it?
I came home from work this morning after the night shift, got in at about 08:30 and went straight to bed.
At about 10:00 the mobile goes off but I ignore it as I am knackered. No voicemail message is left so I think it can't be important.
At about 10:30 I am woken by the sounds of someone in my flat! A guy who works for the landlord came to check out the flat, thinking that I'd moved out already. He left pretty quickly when he realised I was still in bed. But not until he advised me that I should have been out by now as someone is moving in at the weekend! Bastards! My notice isn't up until Wednesday and they hadn't even told me someone had taken the flat!
I went back to bed and tried to get to sleep but was too wound up. I got back up at 11:30.
The letting agency phoned again soon after and told me that I had told the new tenant I would be out by the 28th! The truth is that I had told the only people to come and see the flat that I COULD be out by then, but as I hadn't heard anything from the letting agency I had put it off as I would normally still have to pay rent until my notice was up.
The guy moving in has nowhere to go, and I do want to move ASAP, so I said I'd see what I could do.
A quick couple of phonecalls to my new landlord and my mate Lee and everything sounds like it should be alright for me to move tomorrow!!!!
So, now I have to pack pretty quickly, I thought I had another 3 days. I have to arrange for the disposal of my furniture, rent a van for tomorrow and chuck out all the stuff I do not need.
Looks like I have a busy day ahead of me, so no time to get comics today.
I may not be able to blog for a couple of days, depending on the situation at the new place, so I apologise in advance if that is the case.
How will you cope without me?

Aussie Rules (or at least it used to)
Now I hope I haven't got this all wrong, or should I say I hope I have, but I've just read a news article about the legal action taken against a gay Australian Rules Football fan site (www.gayfooty.com.au) . Aparently some players didn't like the fact that "socially embarassing" photographs appeared on the site, such as pictures of them showering or of them in the changing rooms.
Now, I would guess that someone knew there was a photographer in the changing room and, if they didn't want him / her there, then I'm sure someone would have done something. These are big butch men after all! Could it be the fact that it is a GAY site that was the issue?
My first thought was that it must be a closetted player didn't like the ribbing (that's ribbing not rimming) he possibly got from teammates that he found to be a bit too close for comfort. But that is just speculation on my part.
Searching for other information about the story, I came across endless sites with topless pictures of the boys, including semi-nude pictures they have posed for in the Men of all Seasons calendar. Doesn't this make it all a bit hypocritical?
Moreover, what are they saying to true footie fans who happen to be gay, or those who have gay friends or relatives, and to any children who are fans and are, or think they may be, gay. What message is that giving those kids. As it is, my personal experience as a child was of knowing that I liked men at about age 7, but "knowing" it was "wrong" because of all the negative stereotypes and lack of any positive rolemodels in the media. Not to mention the way the media itself handled "gay issues."
The way I lok at it is this:

The way I lok at it is this:
- These guys are professional athletes and so will be seen in "various states of undress" just by competing in their sports.
- As professionals they are in the public eye by choice, so are fair game for photographers while competing and in media environments, and, to a lesser extend, whenever they are "out and about."
- Requests for removal of photographs from any media need to be given time to be complied with and good reasons given.
- Do these people think that this sort of action will see them in any sort of positive light? Any time that you ban something, it just makes the banned item more desirable, it is almost a law of Physics.
So, my advise to those who made the complaints in the first place is:
- Think why it is you want these images hidden from the public who admire you, for what ever reason they do so.
- Don't you make enough money from gays fans, their freinds and families, when they buy your kits, books, magazines, programs etc etc etc? If you alienate a section of your fan base it will only affect your finances in the long run.
- If you are doing it because you are "in the closet" then do you not realise that this is bringing you more into the spotlight and into the detection of many people's gaydar?
To the teammates of the complainants:
- Give your moning mate a kick up the arse and set them straight, so to speak.
I was initially intendin to post some pics to accompany this item, but have decided not to in case I give some publicity to a player who may have initiated this complaint. I wouldn't want them to profit from this matter in any way. Gayfootie.com kep up the good work.
Cause for celebration
I've just found a second site that has a link to my blog, so I would like to say a big thank you to Jinko and suggest to everyone that you check out his site as it is one of my favourites, and you get gorgeous guys like the one below popping up quite often. Cheers Jinko, keep up the good work.
If I've missed anyone else who has a link to this blog then I apologise, drop me a line and I'll give you a mention.

September's Marvel Comics, WOW!
I've just been checking out the Marvel releases for September and WOW they look good:
Not only is there a Civil War Files as well as the usual Handbook (I love these issues), but we have a new Union Jack limited series (with Hendon Central, my home until Monday. on the front cover of issue #1!), but we also have Civil War continuing, Excalibur with the Black Knight, X-Men: Phoenix - Warsong starting, the Shi'ar in Uncanny X-Men, and the Exiles fighting with, what looks like, every single version of Wolverine ever!! I can't think of a better word than "WOW".

Ant-Man: The Movie!!! Come off it Marvel!
I got an email today from a mate at work, telling me that there is an Ant-Man film on the cards. I couldn't believe it, so I checked out MarvelDirectory and for a minute I thought it was confirmed, but then I noticed the site it wasn't up to date, and I couldn't find anything more up to date about it so I think we are safe.
Now the films that I think should get made would be:
Now the films that I think should get made would be:
- Iron Fist, which is being talked about with Ray Park (Darth Maul / Toad), gould be great.
- Iron Man, which is also being talked about, as long as it isn't Tom Cruise playing him as rumoured.
- Werewolf By Night would be fantastic.
- Sub-Mariner would be great too, and I saw a mock-up of The Rock as Namor, which looked fantastic.
- There was a rumour about a Gargoyle film, but it may be a bit too similar to Spawn.
- Ms Marvel would be fantastic, but then I've always liked her.
- Gambit would obviously be popular.
- She-Hulk could be good.
- I think the Inhumans would make a fantastic movie.
- Machine Man could be good, maybe it would work even better if it was set in the 70's.
- Nova, with a story similar to "The Last Starfighter"?
- Cloak and Dagger could work.
- As could Rom.
- And the Guardians of the Galaxy could work quite well too.
I think I best stop there or I could go on forever.

Poofs don't know anything about footie!?!?!
Am back to work tonight, after a few days holiday, to find out I won the first part of our works' Fantasy World Cup Football League, beating about 20 other "proper" football fans.
I have only recently become interested in football, joining the Premiership Fantasy League last year (in which I can third from last). But I have been enjoying the World Cup and my efforts have been paid off with my win of £45, not alot of money, but considering I only paid £10 to enter the team I'm very happy (even happier that the other guys noses have been put out of joint, especially Bob, who is organising the game, who I beat by 1 point!).
We also have a works "league" set up with the Metro newspaper and I am currently running second on that out of about 10 in our league. Unfortunately with this one there are over 220,000 teams in total, and I am 24,310th out of the whole lot!! Still, I'm very pleased to be doing so well (just outside the top 10% can't be bad), and I more than got my money back which is fantastic.
The main thing though is to make sure that the guys that I beat know who beat them and don't insist that I picked the team for their looks alone!! I would have had a shit team if I did that, but I think maybe I'll do that for the end of the tournament, my Fantasy Bedroom League!!

Moving time soon
OK, I have spoken to Kev, my mate who I'm going to be renting a room from, and he is going into the property on Thursday and hinted that he needed a hand to help sort the flat out (stating that his other lodger was going to be helping on the Friday along with another mate of ours). So I felt pressured into helping out too. I just hope he knows what he is letting himself in for, I am SO clumsy and haven't got a clue when it comes to DIY stuff. But I can't really not go as he is letting me rent so cheaply, I don't really mind, I just hope he doesn't expect favours all the time.
- So I am working Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
- Comics day on Thursday and a bit of final packing and arranging disposal of my furniture.
- Then I'm gonna be helping out Friday afternoon at the new flat, with free drinks afterwards in the pub (he promised).
- Saturday I will be going into Soho to enjoy the crowds for Europride's main day.
- Recovering on Sunday.
- Then moving on Monday with the help of my mate Lee (and Kev said he will help us unpack too!).
- Then that gives me Tuesday and Wednesday to clean the old flat and hand back the keys etc.
Busy, busy, busy. I hope it all goes alright.
